The Town of Sahuarita, in partnership with the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) and the Freeport-McMoRan Community Investment Foundation, have selected three winning startups for this year’s BizLaunch program! This year’s startups were selected because of their innovative technology and their desire to make a difference in the region through their innovative technology.

The Town of Sahuarita officially launched the GrowINSahuarita program in September 2021. The GrowINSahuarita program provides Ideation, Incubation, and Acceleration services and programs to Sahuarita area entrepreneurs and small businesses, this to support new and continued innovation, growth, and economic diversification in the Town.

Starting in 2017, the Town of Sahuarita, in partnership with Freeport-McMoRan, launched the first BizEDGE cohort. The EDGE (Energize, Develop, Grow, Excel) provided resources and programming to local stage-2 companies who were looking to make that next jump in expanding their business operations. Three businesses participated in programming that was provided by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Ellen Kirton.

The Town of Sahuarita is nearing the end of its sponsorship period for the first tech startup cohort in the BizLaunch program (funding for this program was provided through the Freeport-McMoRan Community Investment Foundation). Three startups with strong connections to Sahuarita were chosen to enter the University of Arizona Center for Innovation’s (UACI) Incubator program after a competitive application process in 2020.
